Welcome to SweetGrass Clothing Company, a brand founded by the Mitchell Men – six brothers from Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina. From a young age, these brothers shared a strong bond, which was fortified by the powerful philosophies taught to them by their parents, Edward and Mattie Mitchell. This bond has led them to follow similar paths in terms of their education, career choices, and even the fraternities they joined. Inspired by the Gullah Geechee culture of their home state, the Mitchell Men's brand incorporates aspects of Gullah Geechee spirituality and folklore into their designs. The brand's logo, the Palmetto Rose, is a symbol of love and protection in the Gullah Geechee community. Our first collection, "The Blood Moon Collection," focused on the significance of the Blood Moon in Gullah Geechee folklore and quickly sold out. Our latest collection, the Haint Blue Collection, celebrates the Gullah Geechee color "haint blue" and aims to reclaim the word "haint" as a symbol of spiritual protection for all who wear the pieces. We are proud to share and celebrate our Gullah Geechee heritage through our clothing brand, and hope that our pieces bring a sense of love and protection to all who wear them.
